Laparoscopic Surgery

Laparoscopy is a surgical procedure which allows the surgeon to access the inside of the abdomen and the pelvis. Laparoscopic Surgery, commonly known as keyhole surgery, is minimally invasive, as the surgeon does not have to make large incisions (cuts) in the skin. A laparoscopy can be used to help diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions including hernia, gallstones and obesity.

Laparoscopies are very common in certain areas of medicine, including: gynaecology and gastroenterology. Faster recovery time, less pain after an operation and minimal scarring are just some of the benefits of laparoscopic procedures compared to more invasive surgical treatments.
